My son and I were running together recently. Near the end of a tough segment, we came to a fork in the road. One direction was flat and easy while the other led up a steep, windy hill.
Gritting my teeth, I chose the hill. We made it to the top, but it hurt.
When we paused, my son asked why I chose the hill. I explained, as I do to many clients, that having the discipline to make painful, difficult choices now better prepares us to face the challenges of an unknown future.
Since then, he has chosen the hill every time. He knows we can do hard things.
What hill will you choose today?
