“Are you ready?”

Standing outside the full auditorium, it was a few moments before I was able to fully process the question. After a deep, focusing breath I responded with a mixture of excitement and nervousness,

“Yes. Absolutely. Let’s do this.”

More than 25 years after my first speaking engagement, my answer hasn’t changed. I’m ready. If anything, I’m now even more passionate about engaging audiences with actionable ideas that help them reach their goals and understand that dreams are real.

For me, there’s nothing better than speaking with dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of people, seeing the bulbs of inspiration light up above their heads, and knowing I’ve been able to help make a positive difference in their lives. It’s incredibly rewarding and truly one of the best feelings in the world.

Why I Love Speaking

I’ve been drawn to public speaking since I was a kid. I have a deep-seated desire to help others and, for as long as I can remember, I’ve sought the opportunity for influence. From the first moment I stood in front of a group, I wasn’t sure how to make it happen, but I knew this was something I was meant to do.

Now, after more than 20 years successfully leading teams and working across multiple industries, starting my own company, and helping many uncover the path to their dreams, I’ve developed a rich history that allows me to connect with a tremendous variety of audiences, meeting them right where they’re at.

For me, every event I do furthers my own proof that dreams really do come true.

What I bring to the stage: Energy

Energy is like a magnet. Audiences are drawn to and changed by positive energy. They take in more information, retain key insights, and are better able to apply them to their everyday lives.

Rather than simply lecturing, I allow my passion to shine through, thus encouraging the audience to experience the same enthusiasm I’ve cultivated for every topic we discuss.

Connection

Stories are the framework of our lives. Connection is key and this is how we enter the world. Thanks to the crazy, often difficult, path I’ve walked both personally and professionally over the years, I have a story to match nearly every audience, topic, and situation.

I’m living proof that, while our environment may influence us, our choices make us who we are. As a child I grew up understanding poverty, broken homes, abuse, bullies, and crime. As an adult, I’ve dealt with painful medical realities, financial struggles,the amazing joy of being a parent, and the impact of tragic loss. As a professional I’ve worked in multiple industries from home improvements to retail and beyond, holding positions from front line sales to SVP responsible for thousands of people and hundreds of millions in revenue.

These experiences allow me to accept the individual, understand the situation, and inspire progress.

Knowledge

Knowledge breeds understanding and understanding encourages action. This is why I focus on sharing not only the principle (the ‘why behind the what’ that’s true regardless of circumstance), but also the practical application (specific actions that make a difference in your world today) whenever I speak. Throughout my career I’ve focused on being a student of both my craft and of people in general. In addition to experiencing increasing levels of success working in a wide range of positions, companies, and environments, I’ve developed a worldwide network of growth-focused relationships, asked endless questions, read countless books, listened to thousands of hours of podcasts, and more. At some point in this process I discovered that one of my gifts is synthesis-the ability to take key components from many sources and combine them in powerful way that enables others to overcome challenges and accomplish their goals. In this way I’ve spent years studying leadership, sales, communication, time management, hiring, strategic growth, gratitude, pricing, merchandising, and so much more. After seeing the impact this knowledge has had on so many clients and teams, I’m passionate about sharing these key understandings with as many as possible and encouraging them to reach new heights in their personal and professional development.

Engagement

Learning is most effective as a dialogue. My talks are designed to be collaborative, engaging, and motivational. I encourage the audience to ask questions and, whenever possible, I love to include time for an audience Q&A as well.

This more open dynamic encourages much stronger engagement and increases the likelihood and momentum of change.
